Our Mission
The Colorado Coalition for Women's History is a community based
volunteer organization dedicated to the public
promotion of the
history of Colorado's women. We believe that a greater understanding pf women's history leads
to recognition of the value and
accomplishments of women in society. We encourage education and research that
includes women's
history.
What are our activities?
We sponsor women's history events and projects such
as:
CCWH Annual Meeting: To
be held in March of each year.
Women and War: A program that
looks at women's roles in war as fighters, healers, and protesters, from
colonial times to the present.
Rebels and Healers: A program that looks at the lives and careers of women
doctors and nurses
practicing in Colorado
from the late 19th century into
the 1950s.
Colorado Suffrage Centennial traveling exhibit
Working Women of the West traveling exhibit
We also develop educational materials for community use.
The Colorado Women's History Education Packet
We act as a clearinghouse for the exchange of information
and ideas related to Colorado
women's history.
We provide opportunities to network with
community organizations.
We publish an annual newsletter
Women's History Month
Each year we work with the Metropolitan State College of
Denver's Women's Institute, Denver Public
Library,
the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame, as well as other community groups, to
plan and
present programs during women's history month.
The Summits of Women's History
In 2000 we gathered organizations and individuals
interested in women's history in a series of meetings to
look at ways to
coordinate our efforts and facilitate communication.
The Women's Suffrage Centennial
In 1993 we coordinated the research and celebration of
the centennial of women getting the vote in
Colorado.
